The London Stock Exchange has responded to the Communication supporting the Commission's view that further attention is needed in the area of Clearing and Settlement in order to promote further integration of the financial services market across the EU. The Exchange has called on the Commission to work with market participants to ensure that any future directive is properly targeted and effective - the key will be to ensure access on non-discriminatory terms, in addition to creating a passport for infrastructure providers.
