12/07/2011 Ossiam launches its first ETFs on the London Stock Exchange
Ossiam has launched its first 4 ETFs on the London Stock Exchange, offering exposure to European and US equity markets.
Two are equal weighted European equity ETFs which allow investors to move away from any bias towards larger companies within conventional market cap weighted indices. The other two have adopted minimum variance strategy, aiming to enhance portfolio efficiency while reducing volatility.
To mark the occasion Bruno Poulin, Chief Executive of Ossiam, was joined by Xavier Rolet, Chief Executive of London Stock Exchange Group, to open trading at the London Stock Exchange today.
Pietro Poletto, Head of ETFs at London Stock Exchange Group, said:
"Our ETF markets continue to go from strength to strength. Not only do our markets see more ETF volume traded than any other exchange in Europe, but we are host to more ETF issuers than on any other exchange in Europe too.
"Through Ossiam’s new ETFs, investors will have the opportunity to gain exposure to high quality products on an established, liquid platform."
There have now been 100 new ETFs listed on the London Stock Exchange so far this year, this is almost double the number of ETF listings for the same period last year. Also as of June 2011 there were more than 700,000 ETF trades and £55 billion turnover on the London Stock Exchange year to date, a 27% and 34% increase respectively on the same period last year.
