IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), the world's largest hotel company, today announced the opening of its 1000th relaunched hotel - the Holiday Inn Express New York City Times Square.   

Andy Cosslett, IHG’s CEO said “The opening of our 1000th relaunched Holiday Inn hotel is the latest milestone on our 3 year journey.  Despite the tough economic climate, we’ve relaunched 4 hotels a day for the past 6 months and we’re committed to completing the global relaunch by the end of 2010.  Relaunched hotels are benefitting from improved guest satisfaction and RevPAR (revenue per available room) outperformance of over 5%.  And the feedback we’re getting from our guests and hotel owners says it’s exactly the right time to be doing this.”

The $1 billion relaunch, the largest in the hospitality industry’s history, will see all 3,200 Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels around the world updated – improving quality and driving consistency at Holiday Inn hotels from Boston to Beijing. 

The relaunch focuses on the things that matter most to guests - a modern, contemporary hotel with efficient, friendly service and a great night’s sleep.  Relaunched hotels feature upgraded lobbys, a unique Holiday Inn scent and sound, new bedding, enhanced bathrooms and new exterior lighting, landscaping and signage.  All employees also take the "Stay Real" service commitment to ensure guests receive excellent service.  The Holiday Inn Express in Times Square is just one of the 1,000 new and improved Holiday Inn hotels around the world where guests can experience these changes.
