Redmayne-Bently opens the London Markets

5 December 2005

Redmayne-Bentley, one of the UK’s last and oldest independent stock-broking firms celebrate their 130th anniversary, of the day they started their business, in central Leeds in 1875.

Keith Loudon senior partner of Redmayne-Bentley said:  “We are celebrating 130 years during which we have grown from a one-man firm to a nationwide operation with 32 offices the length and breadth of the UK ... from a handful of clients to over 100,000.

“Much has changed since John Redmayne set up shop in Leeds in 1875 with a coal scuttle and a purchase ledger.  But happily one thing has not.  And that’s our philosophy of giving friendly accessible service to our customers that seeks to help our clients through the often-tortuous ways of the stock markets".
