LSEG Response to HMT Consultation: “A new approach to financial regulation: judgement, focus and stability”

The London Stock Exchange Group has provided a full response to the Government’s Consultation Document: “A new approach to financial regulation: judgement, focus and stability”

Our submission highlights our key points in regards to financial regulation in the UK. Specifically these are:

-     The CPMA’s consumer and markets divisions must be operationally distinct and run by separate CEOs who report into an overarching Chairman.

-     The UKLA must be placed within the CPMA to achieve a true “twin peaks” regulatory model.

-     The Recognised Bodies regime should remain separate and distinct from the authorised firm regime.

-     We believe the above points are fundamental to the competitiveness and attractiveness of the UK’s financial services sector.

-     HMT must ensure that it consults fully and clearly on any proposals before taking action.
