Two non-executive directors to step down from London Stock Exchange Board

London Stock Exchange plc today announced that Ian Salter and Michael Marks are to step down from the Board following the forthcoming AGM on 14 July 2004.

Ian Salter has been on the Board of the London Stock Exchange since its incorporation in 1986, and has been deputy chairman for the past 14 years.  Michael Marks has been on the Board since 1994.

Chris Gibson-Smith, who chairs the Nominations Committee of the Board, will lead the search for new non-executive directors.  He commented:

"I would like to thank both Ian and Michael for their substantial contribution to the Board of the London Stock Exchange. They have both provided valuable counsel through a period of transition from mutual to listed company. In addition, I would like to express my gratitude to Ian as Deputy Chairman for the support he has given to successive chairmen and for the work he has done as an ambassador for the Exchange in international markets."
