RNS MAKES STRONG START ON FIRST DAY OF COMPETITION

RNS has demonstrated the strength of its company news service on the first day of competition in regulatory news distribution, having issued 95 per cent of today's regulatory announcements.

Of the 377 announcements issued to the market by 3pm this afternoon, 359 were carried by the London Stock Exchange's RNS service.

Andrew McStravick, the Exchange's Director of Operations, said he was very pleased with the figures but emphasised that RNS would continue to compete hard for every piece of business.

"These figures are a great endorsement for RNS, especially given the long lead-time for competition," he said.

"We are pleased that our customers recognise that we provide outstanding quality of service and value. We are building on this positive start by continuing to develop RNS to meet our customers' requirements."
