LSE CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO VISIT INDIA
Clara Furse, Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange is to visit India on 20-22 November. This will be Mrs. Furse's first official visit to Asia since she took over as the Chief Executive of the world's most international stock exchange in February 2001. In India, Mrs. Furse will be spending a day each at Mumbai and New Delhi.
During her visit, Mrs. Furse is expected to announce new products and services from the Exchange, to encourage more new listings from India. Currently, 19 Indian companies from a wide range of sectors are listed in London. Though London has the largest number of Indian listings for any international exchange, it is looking to substantially increase the numbers of Indian companies choosing London to raise foreign equity as well as to enhance their profile with international investors.
At Mumbai, Mrs. Furse will address CEOs and CFOs from a cross-section of Indian companies at a special seminar being organised by the Exchange on 20 November 2001. While in Delhi, Mrs. Furse, will meet with key government ministers and officials.
Mrs. Furse will be accompanied by a team of Exchange experts, specialising in emerging markets, who will be meeting with prospective companies in Mumbai and Delhi.
Companies wishing to register for the seminar in Mumbai should call 011 - 431 2024 (New Delhi).
