LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE LAUNCHES ONLINE CHARITY AUCTION

Anyone looking for a new car need look no further than the London Stock Exchange's website - a Smart Car is just one of the items to be offered in an online auction designed to raise money for The Trident Trust charity.

Over the coming months, a number of items donated by the Exchange's customers - including a Smart Car from Accenture, an MP3 player and Palm Pilot provided by Interesource, and vintage champagne from Reuters - will be sold to the highest bidder on the auction site.

All money raised will be donated to The Trident Trust, a City-based charity that helps 14 to 18 year old students to develop work and personal skills and encourages community involvement.

The auction website (www.londonstockexchange.com/charityauction) is an initiative of the Exchange's Information Services department. Together with online design consultants Interesource, who provided their expertise free of charge, the Exchange's Information Services department developed the site and contacted customers about donating items.

Helen Bennett, the Exchange's Head of Information Services, said:

"In our bicentennial year, the Exchange is delighted to be raising money and awareness of The Trident Trust, an organisation which does so much to provide opportunities for young people."

"The auction section within www.londonstockexchange.com highlights the talents and initiative of the Exchange's staff and the generosity of our customers who donated items."
