"IT'S TIME TO QUESTION THE EXPERTS"
JONATHAN DIMBLEBY HOSTS SHARE AWARETM CAMPAIGN

The London Stock Exchange will be staging a major event in Yorkshire this Autumn. The Yorkshire Share Fair is part of the London Stock Exchange's successful ongoing Share AwareTM campaign, which aims to give investors the skills necessary to make the most out of their investments.

The one-day event will be held at The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on Saturday 20 October and aims to attract a large audience of private investors, from those who are new to stock market investment to more active investors. A centre-piece of the day will be two stock market debates chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby, with input from stock market specialists Adam Shaw (BBC2's 'Working Lunch'), Alvin Hall (BBC2's 'Your Money or Your Life'), Justin Urquhart Stewart and Terry Bond. There will also be a wide range of exciting seminars and workshops, which will include Alvin Hall's "Golden Rules for Investing".

The Yorkshire Share Fair comes three years on from the initial launch of Share AwareTM, also in Leeds; the Exchange's rolling campaign which aims to educate and inform private investors.

There are currently 12 million shareholders in the UK. In Yorkshire, the total has increased over the last three years; currently 28% of the Yorkshire population are shareholders, which constitutes 10% of the UK's total share owning population. Whilst the number of investment clubs in the UK is currently 10,000, the number in Yorkshire has risen from 196 in 1998 to 532 this year.

Chris Broad, the London Stock Exchange's Head of Broker Services said: "It is important that investors are able to understand the fluctuations of the market and gain the skills to become wiser investors. It is particularly at times such as these that investors need guidance - Share Aware helps to provide just that". Details of the event can be found at www.yorkshiresharefair.com
