EXCHANGE LAUNCHES WEB PRICE SERVICE FOR PRIVATE INVESTORS

A new Exchange website launched today caters specifically to the needs of private investors and investment clubs by offering free daily price updates with benchmarking and charting facilities.

The service, called Prism (www.londonstockexchange.com/prices), is designed to offer price information that will assist investors in managing their investments - or a fantasy portfolio based on real prices. The site is updated daily at 6am with the previous day's closing prices for all UK companies quoted on the London Stock Exchange. Users can select ten companies and benchmark price performance against one of them or against a choice of indices or an industrial sector.

Share prices can be charted to demonstrate historic performance and volatility over periods ranging from one month to a year. The portfolio can be saved and checked daily, or cleared and used to research new companies to invest in.

The unique graphical presentation of Prism's charts translates well to print, allowing investors to keep a permanent record of their share portfolio.

The Exchange said: "Prism is one of a range of web services we offer to investors. It adds value to our standard prices by giving investors the tools they need to analyse and track the performance of their own portfolio. Prices are available early in the morning in keeping with retail investors' trading patterns."
